More About Videography

Creating a video that you will want to watch over and over.
Every year, on the day of their wedding
anniversary, many couples share a special ritual. They open a bottle of
champagne, snuggle up on the couch, dim the lights, and pop in their wedding
video or DVD. And every year it makes them laugh, and it brings back the
happiest day of their lives. Among their favorite moments are clips of old
friends proposing toasts. They look forward to the day when their children can
join them in their annual viewing tradition.
Your wedding video can be a treasure, one of your favorite possessions.
Or, it can be something you watch once
and never really have the urge to look at again. Certainly, if t is well done,
it can be your favorite movie of all time. But getting an excellent wedding
video doesn't just happen without some effort on the part of the bride and
groom. It takes a bit of planning, and some measure of educating yourselves
about quality videography. But as any couple who have had a professional wedding
video created will agree, the minimal effort is well worth it.
First decide to have a professional video made.
It sounds obvious, But all too often the
Wedding video is cut from the budget when other costs start adding up. This is
an unfortunate compromise. You won't ever have another chance to capture your
wedding. Some couples decide that if a professional video is unaffordable, they
can ask a friend with a video camera to record the events. While this option is
better than nothing at all, it is a far cry from having a professional video and
audio production with pro lab editing and special effects that a most of your
married friends have had done. You can't help but appreciate what experience,
training, and high-quality taping and editing equipment can create.
Cinderella has the right attitude and the right equipment.
A videographer who manages to
communicate the emotions of the day is one who cares, and one who knows how to
capture the most important moments. Cinderella uses only low-lux cameras,
with wireless microphones. Our videographers have state of the art equipment.
Cinderella also shoots only today's top digital three chip video equipment.
On Your Wedding Day, Be Supportive.
Okay, so you have enough going on your
wedding day without worrying about the videographer. But the more support he
gets from you, the better things will go. And a little goes a long way in this
area. Start by introducing him to any key people that he has not yet met. The
maid of honor, the best man, the flower girl, your great grandmother. This not
only makes your friends and family feel more comfortable with the videographer
(thus making them better subjects), it also lets him know at whom he should be
aiming the camera most of the time. If you will have a wedding consultant at the
celebration, be sure that the videographer is introduced to him or her. The
consultant should be instructed to notify the videographer (and the
photographer) when important events, such as the cake cutting, are about to
happen so that the cameras can be in place. If you don't have a consultant, be
sure to assign someone (Usually the maid of honor or best man) to act as a
liaison for the videographer in case he or she has questions about the order of
events or who certain wedding guests are.
Relax And Enjoy The Day.
Once you have settled the videographer in at the beginning of the day, your job is to basically forget about him and his camera. Unless you are being interviewed directly which many videographers like to do if there's a moment before the wedding ceremony, just pretend that the cameras are not there at all. Videography used to be much more intrusive, with huge, bright lights, wires running all over the room, and people carrying enormous cameras. These days, such big lights are not necessary because the cameras have improved, and gotten small in the process. In fact, it is actually easy to forget the cameras are there. And that is the way it should be. Your video will look much more natural, and you will like it a lot better, if you are relaxed and simply having the time of your life without being self-conscious.
After all, you should be living the moment, and not worrying about recording it for later.
That's someone else's job, now.
