Wedding Checklist - From One Year Before the Wedding

A calendar countdown of what to do and when to do it.

From one year through six months:

Announce your engagement.
Decide on the type and style of wedding.
Pick the date, time and location.
Set up a financial budget.
Select your gown, and the bridal parties clothing and accessories.
Make arrangements for your church or ceremony location. Hotel rooms for out-of-town guests.
Select your caterer and/or reception location.
Choose your Photographer, Videographer and Entertainment.
Do your Bridal Gift Registry.
Plan your honeymoon.
Begin planning your reception.
Order your invitations.
Pre-marital counseling where applicable.
Order your wedding rings.

From three months before your wedding:

Finish the guest list.
Set up your Doctor's appointments.
Remind Mothers to select dresses and accessories.
Rent items needed for your ceremony and reception.
Start compiling trousseau.
Order personal stationery with new names etc.
Confirm arrangements made with services from above section of list.
Make transportation arrangements.
Order wedding cake.

From two months before your wedding:

Mail invitations, and allow time for reply cards to come back.
Get your marriage license.

From one months before your wedding:

Schedule your bridal portrait.
Final count of hotel rooms needed for out-of-town guests.
Plan your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Buy gifts for the bridal party.
Buy each other gifts, if you plan to exchange them.
Final outfit fittings.
Makeup, hairstyling and beauty salon appointments.
Wedding accessories - guest book, ring pillows, unity candles etc.
Send bridal portrait and announcement to the newspapers.
Change names on license, credit cards, social security cards etc.

From one week before your wedding:

Start packing for honeymoon.
Finalize number of guest with caterer.
Seating arrangements for reception, if you choose to do so.
Rehearsal and Dinner should be one to two days before your wedding
